Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program
social media campaign
The Texas Department of State Health Services Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (DSHS) is tasked with reducing the rate of child blood lead poisoning for the state of Texas. Typically parents are the strongest advocates for their children’s health making them a key audience in the fight to reduce child lead poisoning. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to get their attention and tough to convince them that lead is still important enough to deserve another needle stick at those early vaccine-heavy child wellness checkups.
To grab busy parents’ attention, we created a series of social media posts using an artwork-driven humor appeal that tested well in our demographic. The posts were released on DSHS Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook feeds during the CDC’s National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week. While following DSHS brand guidelines, we succeeded in creating bold, eye-catching posts that garnered engagement with parents and care providers.
