In the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, academic faculty everywhere were scrambling to understand how best to support their students and each other. A group of professors at the University of Texas approached us and asked for assistance developing a support system by faculty/for faculty during this chaotic and confusing time.

We helped F2F identify their goals and the right tools to connect a network of professors that could collaborate on problem solving and solution sharing. We built the F2F brand, website and newsletter concentrating on encouraging peer to peer support.

Example of the Faculty to Faculty newsletter showing hero image of faculty member talking about the good work of a peer and a three column layout of the resources offered in the email.

The challenge when designing the F2F newsletter was to create a product that would be welcomed in the inbox of faculty members who were already overwhelmed by emails. By focusing on peer appreciation at the beginning of the email we emphasized a sense of community, shared experience, and gratitude. The body of the newsletter is concise and support oriented with three brief, accessible, and actionable tips. We kept educators’ well-being at the center by always making one tip self-care focused. Every section has carefully placed CTA’s (Call-to-Action) to encourage deeper engagement. The template was created using tools that are familiar, cost-effective, and produce useful analytics. Since its launch in August 2020, F2F has consistently received 63-88% Open Rates, averaging 16% CTR (Click-Through-Rate) for this format.
